What we do

TLA is a membership service and community for landlords, letting agents and tenants. We provide compliance guidance, documents, tools and support.

How we are funded

We are funded by membership fees and advertising. Partners pay TLA to advertise to its members and website visitors. Nationwide Partners pay for priority placement and are shown first. TLA takes no fee for enquiries, introductions, applications or sales, and membership benefits never depend on using a partner.

Regulatory status

TLA Commercial Partnerships Ltd is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority or the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We do not give advice on, or arrange, financial, insurance or legal products.

  • Finance and insurance: we publish advertising only. These adverts take you to the advertiser’s own website or phone line. We do not introduce anyone to finance or insurance firms and we never pass your details to them.
  • Other partners: we pass your details to a partner only when you choose to send an enquiry through our site, with the partner named before you send it. We take no fee for it.
  • Each advertiser’s own regulatory status is shown on its listing.

Our history

TLA was founded in 2006 as Landlord Expert, traded as The Landlord Association from 2018, and has been operated by TLA Commercial Partnerships Ltd since November 2025. Archived copies of our original website are held by the Internet Archive.

TLA is not connected with the National Residential Landlords Association, or with The Landlords Association (company number 04336449), a separate company with a similar name.
