Need Help Understanding the Renters Rights Act? Here Are Your Training Options

With the Renters Rights Act now in force, landlords, letting agents and housing advisers must familiarise themselves with the new legal framework. To support this, a variety of training options have been developed, ranging from free courses to bespoke sessions tailored to specific organisational needs.

Free Landlord Law Essentials Course

A comprehensive starting point is the free Landlord Law Essentials Course, which consists of 12 parts. This series of articles covers key areas of landlord and tenant law and practice, making it ideal for those new to renting or anyone wishing to refresh their knowledge.

The course provides a solid foundation in the essentials of landlord law, helping participants understand their rights and responsibilities under the updated legal landscape.

The Landlord Law Fundamentals Monthly Webinars

For ongoing professional development, a new series of 16 monthly webinars is available, beginning on 11 June 2026. The first session will focus on Background Law, with subsequent topics including pre-letting requirements, property condition standards, Local Authority enforcement, tenancy agreements, and possession proceedings.

Each webinar lasts approximately two hours and includes a question-and-answer segment, allowing delegates to engage directly with the material.

  • Landlord Law members can attend these webinars as part of their membership benefits.
  • Non-members may book individual sessions at a cost of £18 (£15 plus VAT) each.

Recordings of the webinars will be accessible for 12 months following each event, and attendees can request a CPD certificate based on recorded attendance.

Tessa’s Renters Rights Act Masterclass

A dedicated three-hour masterclass was held on 21 April 2026, covering all the changes introduced by the Renters Rights Act. This session was recorded and remains available exclusively to Business Level Landlord Law members.

Business Level members also have access to a library of past training sessions dating back to 2018, providing a valuable resource for continuous learning.

In-House and Bespoke Training

For organisations seeking tailored training solutions, bespoke sessions can be arranged through Easy Law Services. These are designed specifically to meet the needs of the organisation and can be delivered by the course creator or, if necessary, by a specialist barrister.

This option offers flexibility for groups requiring focused guidance on particular aspects of landlord law or practice.

What this means for landlords

The introduction of the Renters Rights Act represents a significant shift in the regulatory environment for landlords and letting agents. Access to structured training ensures that professionals remain compliant and confident in managing their responsibilities.

Whether through free foundational courses, detailed monthly webinars, or bespoke training, landlords now have a range of resources to help them navigate the new legal requirements effectively.
